#1 - COLLABORATIVE PROJECT
The Story Behind GH
Golden Hour Watch is a wearable emergency assistance concept designed to help older adults and people with disabilities request help after a fall. Developed through a collaboration with students from West Bohemian University, the concept features a central yellow SOS button intended to alert a nearby hospital or trusted contact and share the user's location.
Our team selected the concept and worked collaboratively on its branding, from product naming to visual identity. I contributed to user research through interviews with older adults, helping us better understand the intended users, and created an animation demonstrating how the watch could be used in an emergency.
#2 - USER RESEARCH
Understanding The Users
To better understand the needs and concerns of older adults, I conducted interviews with two elderly participants as part of our team's research for the SOS watch concept.
The interviews explored their daily routines, health-related challenges, and perspectives on emergency assistance. One participant shared that asking others for help could feel difficult unless the situation was serious. Another described challenges with balance and mobility, highlighting the importance of accessible assistance.
We also discussed the proposed watch concept. The participants responded positively to the idea of pressing a button to contact family members or a hospital during an emergency. Their feedback also highlighted practical considerations: affordability, functional design, and the size of the watch.
These conversations helped me better understand the intended users and contributed to our team's exploration of the product's branding and communication.

01
Asking for help can be difficult
One participant mentioned that they tend to feel embarrassed or reluctant to ask for help, unless the situation is truly serious.
02
Balance and mobility affect daily life
He explained that the issues with his legs make maintaining his balance and moving around more difficult.
03
Affordability Matters
When asked about the price, he suggested a range below RM200, explaining that retirees need something that is not too expensive.
04
Functionality and comfort both matter
He emphasizes that function is more important than appearance, while She feels the watch shown is too large for a woman.
From Concept to Brand
Our team reviewed concepts developed by students from West Bohemian University and selected the SOS watch for further development.
Together, we explored its branding and naming, eventually choosing Golden Hour Watch to reflect the concept's focus on timely emergency assistance. The brand aimed to communicate reassurance, accessibility, and the importance of getting help when it matters most.
Bringing The Concept to Life
I created an animation illustrating how Golden Hour Watch could work in an everyday emergency scenario.
The story follows an older man going about his daily routine before experiencing a fall. He presses the yellow SOS button on his watch, initiating the proposed emergency response and sharing his location so that assistance can reach him.
Through this animation, I translated the product concept into a relatable visual narrative that communicates its intended purpose.
Team Collaboration
The project brought together user research, branding, animation, and digital interface design. While our team collaborated on the brand identity, my teammate designed the companion app's UI/UX, and I focused on user understanding, branding & visual development, and animation.
